Keynote Ted Lai - Celebrate Success, Save Paper, and Get Your Fifteen Minutes

Podcasts, wikis, blogs, tweets, social bookmarking… Now, more than
ever, teachers and students can easily share ideas and accomplishments
with parents, relatives, friends, and the world. The print media
business is declining, but digital forms of communication,
collaboration, and publishing have exploded. But don't just publish
anything. The key is to create compelling projects and then use new
media safely and effectively to promote and celebrate classroom work.
Empower student creativity to transform teaching and learning!

Session One Options:
1 - "What's New in the Calaxy? Free Online Tools for Teachers" - Presenter: Alan Philips
The California K-12 High Speed Network (K12HSN) - Calaxy - offers a comprehensive set of tools to support teaching and learning. The free suite of tools includes Moodles, wikis, blogs, videoconferencing, and a file sharing system where educators can upload videos, podcasts, images and documents.

2 - "Digital Storytelling" - Presenter: Dr. Lee Grafton
First you need a story and then you have to adapt it to the medium... Get ideas how you can use state-of the-art tools to create and publish students' stories that meet the California Academic English Language Arts and National Ed Tech Standards for Students.

3 - "Getting Around Second Life" - Presenter: Doug Hodges
You've heard about it and maybe explored a bit..... Have some fun and learn how to use Second Life to participate in professional learning environments that are educational, engaging and collaborative!

I am using a Moodle for the Second Life presentation. Some of the Moodle activities include wikis and forums inside the Moodle. The moodle is on my personal web site: http://faithbuildingup.com/moodle// . The key to join the Second Life course is sl101.

7 - "Capturing the Power of YouTube to Deliver Instruction" - Presenter: Karen Foersch
Wish you could access You Tube in your classroom? You can! Learn how to access, download and use YouTube videos to improve reading fluency and facilitate language arts instruction.

8 - "Improve Student Writing with Assistive Technology" - Presenter - Dennis Deeds
Learn how to use predictive word processing software, PhotoShop, and FREE and low cost on-line resources for animated movie making in the classroom to improve student writing.
